YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROJECT
The Youth Empowerment Project (Y.E.P.) is committed to helping youth discover and define their own approach to leadership. Through intentional guidance and hands-on learning, Y.E.P. supports youth in building confidence, purpose, and a voice of their own.
The program serves two distinct cohorts (high school students ages 14–18) and (young adults ages 18–24)—offering tailored experiences that promote community building and self-empowerment skills. The module will provide six training sessions, and two opportunities to attend government meetings. Each cohort meets weekly.
This project aligns with its goal of empowering LGBTQIA2S+ youth to advocate for educational justice by focusing on four key components:
Leadership Training Workshops will equip LGBTQIA2S+ youth with essential leadership skills such as advocacy, public speaking, and organizing. These skills help lay the foundation for the ability to influence positive change.
In addition to the focuses above, youth and young adults participating in Y.E.P. will have access to other TransPonder programs, including free peer support services!
Our peers are solid advocates and help support community members’ emotional health, wellness, and self-management of social and health challenges. They can also provide support during major transitions in life.
