SADIE BARATTA, MPH
R.I.S.E. Co-Director
SHE/HER
Sadie is a fat, cis femme. Who can always be found with a cup of coffee near by, sharing random facts or saying what's on her mind. Born and raised in Eugene, Sadie has moved away a few times, she always seems to find her way back. Raised by mental health professionals, Sadie grew up seeing how systems fall short of true care and safety and are often inaccessible to most. Being someone who sees things from the bigger picture and wanting to understand the systems, brought her to working in public health. Specifically in epidemiology, don't (or do) get her started on rabies, foodborne illnesses, or other communicable diseases. Three years working in the COVID-19 pandemic led her to seek ways to change systems, uplift community voices, and cause some good trouble. She has a passion for being in community, honesty, speaking truth to power, and doing what she can to uplift the voices of others. Sadie is incredibly excited to be serving her community, and bringing some good trouble, in this role!
Outside of work Sadie is often hanging out with the coolest person she knows, her kid! If he is too busy being cool you can find her dancing, picking up a book she left half unread three months ago, hiking with her spouse, crafting, or hanging out with friends. She has an obsession for bats, and other "weird" animals, and is always on the hunt for the most perfect coffee drink.
